About the Author
In Symfony circles, I go by the name of ’superhaggis’. Why did I choose this nickname? Good question!! I was looking for a new ‘trading-as’ name for my freelance business, and wanted to identify myself as a Scottish web developer. The name ‘haggis’ on its own, unlike the foodstuff, is rather bland and uninteresting — by sticking a ’super’ in front of it, it gave the impression of me being a Scottish web developer who wore his undercrackers on top of his trousers in a mock superhero style.
Ahem..
My real name, I think, is Nick Winfield. I have been developing web applications in PHP for a long, long time and am rather good at it now. I could go on to profess about how I’m normally incredibly modest, but I doubt you would believe me given the evidence here.
Despite the removal of my name from the Symfony ‘Developers for Hire’ Wiki page, I am in fact available for SME projects provided they can be worked on remotely. By day, I am a Senior Developer for an up-and-coming web consultancy based in Glasgow; my job is fantastic but it does take up a lot of my time, so I have to factor this in when engaging with my own ‘out-of-hours’ clients. If you need a hand putting the finishing touches to your Symfony-powered website or are looking for someone to steer your web app in the right direction, please drop me a line at enquiries@superhaggis.com. If I can help you, I will. If I can’t, I’ll let you know right away.
